Owen Pallett - Dan Deacon remix

Two of my favorite one man bands collide in Dan Deacon's remix of Owen Pallet's "Lewis Takes Off His Shirt" for the 12" of the same name. Pallett's gentle voice and looped violins mix with Deacon's hyper rhythms to make a happy medium that belongs in your itunes (or winamp).

Barack Obama Looking at Awesome Things

Yes. Yes. Yes.
Comic book drawer Dean Trippe has uncovered some revealing photos of our President taking in some of the most incredible things in the universe. Things like proton packs, hover boards, and Optimus Prime.
"In response to NYMag.com's clearly doctored A History of Obama Feigning Interest in Mundane Things slideshow, I've decided to reveal the truth, using next-gen image decoding software I call Photoshop."
Thank you, Dean for spreading the truth.
The flickr album is here.

Big Man Japan

I finally got around to streaming Big Man Japan on Netflix. Hitoshi Matsumoto directs and stars in what is probably the most mind-bogglingly bizarre entry into cinema history that I have seen. It is like a comedic Cloverfield / Ultraman/ Bubba Ho-tep combo that leaves you pleasantly dumbfounded after the credits. It's part of the 2008 six shooter film series, which also includes Let the Right One In. If you like surreal monsters, dry, subtle humor, and slight melancholy, queue this.

Zach Galifianakis Vs Preschool

I'm getting kind of tired of grown-ups. So here is my older doppelganger Zach Galifianakis telling jokes to pre-schoolers.

Heavy Metal Director Shirts

Cinefile has been making these pretty awesome shirts appropriating classic band logos and combining them with the names of awesome directors. My favorite is the Herzog / Danzig shirt. If I was more of a Danzig fan I would totally bag that. Check out the whole series at Cinefile Video

Clearance Vinyl

If you, like me, are caught in the paradox of being both a record collector and a cheapskate, check out Vinyl Collective's clearance section. All the records on the list are at wholesale prices, and there are probably at least a couple titles you meant to have already bought.
I picked up Mogwai 's Mr. Beast and The Hawk is Howling 2xLPs, and The Magnetic Fields The Charm of the Highway Strip all for under $45 including shipping (I also googled "vinyl collective promo code" and found a 10% off code).
The list is here.
