This site can connect pretty much any two musical acts you can think of. I managed to stump it with Liberace and Mayhem, but it did manage Clay Aiken to Mastodon in six.

Ghostbusters Improv Everywhere
Improv Everywhere had three ghosts and four Ghostbusters show up at the New York Public Library reading room (the actual location used for filming the original movie) for a performance sponsored by the NYPL to raise awareness about their budget cuts. I wish more stuff like this would happen when I am out.

Slow-Mo Volcano
Awesome time-lapse video of Eyjafjallajökull (the volcano in Iceland that's been grounding air traffic in Europe) by Sean Stiegemeier. The time lapse dolly really puts it over the top, as well as the bullet-riddled airplane carcass, and featuring music by Jónsi of Sigur Rós. Click the vimeo logo to watch it in HD.

Old Lady vs Mercedes
A douchebag in a Mercedes honks at an old lady crossing the street, but she pwns him with an economy of effort that is hilarious.

Wooden Spoon Trick
I saw this a couple weeks ago and was laughing out loud. The guy gets so angry and his retaliation is so pitiful that it is hard not to. I can only imagine the screaming they could elicit from him with an atomic situp.

Damien Walters
Damien Walters has ridiculous control of his body. This occupies a space somewhere between athletics and art, as the movement is often so unexpected that it is clearly in the same veign of creativity as any high art impulse.

Sword and Sworcery EP
I have been out of the video game loop since I moved out of my parents' house and left my systems with my younger brother. I am also pretty resistant to the iphone, and dead set against the ipad. But Sword and Sworcery EP by Superbrothers makes me actually kind of want one of them. It is clearly heavily influenced by classic console gaming of the 80s and 90s, with a strong dose of Zelda (fact: A Link to the Past for SNES is the greatest game ever made.). Throw in music by Jim Guthrie (half of Human Highway, the other half being Nick Thorburn of Islands and the Unicorns) and this just may become the game that breaks my electronic gaming sobriety. Simple, beautiful.

Happy Star Wars Day!
Today is Star Wars Day (May the Fourth... be with you). To comemmorate here are some outtakes from Triumph the insult comic dog's visit with fans in line for Attack of the Clones. I hadn't seen this until today, but I've enjoyed the actual segment aplenty.
Here is Carrie Fisher roasting Georgle Lucas (and herself):
and for good measure, here is the first part of the 70 minute Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace review. If you haven't yet, today is pretty much the best day to watch it (and the 90 minute Attack of the Clones review).

8-Bit Lego Video: Rymdreglage - 8-bit trip
Apparently 1500 hours spent making stop motion lego animation leads to this monster of nostalgic wonder.

Tool - "Lateralus" Japanese version
An 8 piece japanese koto ensemble covers Tool's "Lateralus". Seeing this led me to check Tool's site, (which I used to do obsessively in high school) where I discovered that A) They are mounting a tour this summer, B) They are in the studio and C) Adam Jones co-wrote an X-Files/30 Days of Night comic with Steve Niles.
